CSC.com & Web Sites
The information below provides details and guidelines on various aspects of our primary Web site, csc.com.
CSC.com is our only authorized external Web presence. It comprises all "zones" (content areas) and "microsites" residing on csc.com systems and infrastructure. For the company's Web site policy, refer to management policy statement 601. Exceptions for non-csc.com sites must be approved by the cognizant business unit CIO, Office of the CIO (OCIO), or Global Sales and Marketing (GSM).
Microsites can be created and hosted by csc.com. Examples are employee transition Web sites, contract required sites, account communications, events, and new business proposals. Microsites can be permanent or temporary. An application and business justification are required. Refer to the "Web Site Request Form" in the csc.com Resource Center.
In addition to the information on this styleguide, other available tools include Web-specific guidelines, tutorials, CMS training materials, Web best-practices, editorial and design references, and a Web marketing primer. They can be found in the csc.com Resource Center under "Resources."
Our Web presence keeps pace with the changing needs of our business. New zones (content areas) and unique landing pages for new solutions and offerings or to support marketing campaigns can be added to csc.com. Content teams are in place to manage existing pages/content and new teams can be formed for additional needs. To add a new zone on csc.com or launch a new microsite, complete a "Web Site Request Form, " found in the csc.com Resource Center.
Design and Editorial
Given our "one CSC" market strategy, all Web pages should have a consistent look and feel, comprising imagery, brand and editorial tone of voice. The csc.com team creates templates and navigation elements that are used throughout the site and microsites. Non-csc.com sites must conform to these standards as well. The csc.com team has resources available to assist with design, creative and editorial needs. External agencies must also comply with our Web standards. Refer to the csc.com Resource Center or contact the csc.com team.
Domain Names, Redirects and Vanity URLs
Domain names are managed through the csc.com team, Office of the CIO (OCIO) and Global Network Services. External facing sites must use CSC's online brand, for example, csc.com/XXX. Internal applications and systems follow the XXX.csc.com format. Exceptions must be approved by the above-mentioned entities. The csc.com team uses a global domain name vendor to purchase new domains. Redirects (vanity URLs) can be set up using csc.com systems, and they can link to any page on csc.com, or on microsites or external sites.
Content Management System (CMS)
The company has invested in and developed a content management system that is used to produce and publish csc.com and related microsites. Content teams have access to the CMS to manage their unique zones and content. The CMS does not require technical skills, however some basic HTML knowledge is useful. Training and ongoing support is available from the csc.com team.
Blogs, Social Media and Mobile Applications
CSC encourages digital communications and marketing in all forms, including blogs, communities, video, flash, interactive communications, etc. CSC.com supports many social media features. Guidelines for posting and using digital communications on csc.com and other external sites, such as Twitter and MySpace, are available. Mobile applications must be approved and resources are available to assist with development and best practices. Contact the csc.com team for more information.
Metrics and Analytics
The csc.com team provides traffic measurement and analytics from Omniture, a leading Web analytics vendor; Hitwise; Google Analytics; and others. We can measure Web traffic as well as campaigns, search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO) for both paid and organic purposes.
