CSC Hopes to Maintain League Lead
Team CSC/CVT captain, Garth Thomas
Kleinhans was also responsible for one of the Spring League Series’ most impressive performances to date when he broke away 5km into the race and rode solo until approximately 30km before the finish line.
According to Team CSC/CVT manager, Chris Willemse Snr, “It took some hard racing by the pelaton – comprising Garth Thomas (CSC/CVT), Phillip Schoeman (Richard Kane), Andrew Smith (Bikemax), David Garrett (Powerbar/Oakley) and Craig Butland (Falconsport) – to catch Kleinhans.”
Team CSC/CVT currently holds the top three positions in the Spring League Series and, according to Willemse Snr, the team will be doing its utmost to maintain this lead, despite missing out on the final league event in order to compete in the 94.7 race in Gauteng.
“This weekend’s Simonsvlei League race will be our last chance to secure the points we need to win the Spring League. Our hopes rest on sprinter Abdelbasset Hannachi for a win as Chris Willemse Jnr and Garth Thomas – currently placed first and second in the league - will be leaving for China tomorrow, Tuesday 7 November, and will miss the final two league events and the 94.7.”
Willemse Jnr and Thomas are part of a South African national team which will be competing in a seven day tour in China.
