A new electronic world for Airbus and their suppliers

Author:

Karl Schubert, aerospace engineer with CSC Consulting in France.

Summary:

The airline industry was hit especially hard by the September 11th terrorist attacks, the Iraq conflict, and the SARS epidemic. Yet Airbus has actually improved its competitive position despite lower demand.

This achievement has been facilitated by doing something that would have been challenging even in a thriving market: launching a major integration and change management project to reengineer its multination supply chain.

The result is a single Web-based solution for all of Airbus’s suppliers that has increased collaboration and drastically reduced costs.
