IT VMware Specialist cum Administrator
Primary Role
The IT VMWare Specialist cum Administrator (ISA):
- Manages and documents system events to ensure the integrity of the system.
- Upgrades system hardware and software components as required
- Install, setup, upgrades and configures system files and services
- Performs configuration and testing
- De-install, decommission or retire assets when required
- Monitors and improves system performance through kernel and file system tuning
- Assists with system troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems
- Deep technical knowledge on the VMware Hardware and Software infrastructure and the related Windows server platform
- Proactively perform performance tuning, availability monitoring and capacity monitoring on the related server platform
- Performs and support Disaster recovery drill for each requested business entity
- Analyzes, logs, tracks, and resolves hardware/software matters pertaining to networking, connectivity issues, printers, servers, and applications to meet business needs.
Working Relationships
- Directly report to Line Manager/supervisor and others if need;
- Work across in different teams in different locations if need;
- Work with clients and/or counterparts if have.
Professional Responsibilities
Technology & Tasks:
- Relevant experience in Virtualization Software, VMware, Blades, Microsoft operating systems in an enterprise wide computing environment.
- Monitoring and automated management of infrastructure
- Measuring capacity utilization and planning for future growth
- Utilizes tools and utilities such as Windows Server OSes, VMware tools such as VMware ESX/ESXi server and management, VMware vSphere Admin, vCenter Server, vCentre Orchestrator, Capacity IQ , vMotion, Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
- A VMware certififed professional and has several Vmware trainings and accreditations
- Administrates and implement VMware vCentre - Policy-based Management & Automation
- Supports the installation and testing of the necessary software and hardware, including server clustering.
- Enable monitoring, server security hardening.
- Ensuring all data & applications are protected
- Patch management
People:
- Coordinates with various product lines of service units, to enhance communication among various functions and to improve efficiency
- Coordinates with design groups to ensure correct implementation, and develops test plans.
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Works with architects to design system architectures.
Customer:
- Interacts with various lines of services, to gather and define requirements for engineering process and implementations.
- Coordinates and determines method of installing client applications and systems. Monitors system traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware.
Business:
- Performs and evaluates features and functionalities and vendor comparisons of software and hardware systems to ensure cost effective and efficient operations.
- Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations.
- Develops, tests, and implements system designs in support of business goals.
- Overtime and weekend work occasionally required.
- Delivers 7x24x365 service support.
- Ensures satisfaction through implementation of standards/policies needed to fulfill service level expectations.
Financial:
- Assists with short and long-range strategic planning.
- Supports both short term and long term Information Technology (IT) investment decisions as they relate to engineering technology.
- Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective system solution for the business need.

Professional Requirements
- At least 03 years of IT experience as the quivalent role is a must;
- Having good communication skills in English is required;
- Being a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills is needed;
Education/Training
- Bachelor's is a plus;
- Diploma or College’s degree is considered;
- Major in computer science, MIS (managed infrastructure service) preferred;
