IT Database Administrator (MS SQL)
Primary Role
The IT Database Administrator (IDA) is responsible for architecting, designing, installing, migrating & supporting database systems and ensuring their performance, availability and security. Responsible for, but not limited to, the following areas relating to the day-to-day duties:
- Standardization of database practices
- Installation and configuration
- Performance Management
- Backup & Recovery
- Lab Configuration and Setup
- Data Migration
- Technical documentation
Working Relationships
- Directly report to Line Manager/supervisor and others if needed;
- Work across in different teams in different locations if needed;
- Work with clients and/or counterparts if needed.
Professional Responsibilities
Technology & Tasks:
- Installing, commissioning, managing, tuning, patching, supporting;
- Troubleshooting & performing database administration;
- Being responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases;
- Being responsible for managing the internal and external database security;
- Being responsible for migration data from legacy databases to the latest one;
- Providing database backup and recovery;
- Proactively monitoring database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime;
- Being responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management;
- Being responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout, patching and upgrades;
- Troubleshooting skills to effect fast problem resolution;
- Being responsible for Performance Management. Familiarity with performance monitoring tools;
- Possessing appropriate skills in database security, vulnerability remediation, patch management;
- Setting up and maintain documentation and standards;
- Having practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service;
- Knowledge about SQL Mirroring;
- Knowledge about SQL Replication.

- Being good fluency in the English language with proficiency in written and verbal

Professional Requirements
- At least 02 years of IT experience in database administrator role is a must;
- Having good communication skills in English is required;
- Being a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills is needed;
- Good English writing skill is big plus
- Have experience on large scale database systems is a big plus
Education/Training
- Bachelor's is a plus;
- Diploma or College’s degree is considered;
- Major in computer science, MIS (managed infrastructure service) preferred;
