AIX Administrator with Japanese Language
Primary Role
The IT System Administrator (ISA) is responsible for Installing, commissioning, managing, tuning, patching, supporting, troubleshooting & performing system administration for AIX Systems, is responsible for, but not limited to, the following areas relating to the day-to-day support of the server and related to infrastructure:
1. Capacity Management
2. Configuration Management
3. Performance Management
4. Availability Management
5. Database Support
6. Patch Management, Vulnerability remediation.
7. Maintenance and Monitoring
8. Technical documentation
9. Asset Management
10. Software currency
11. Adherence to Incident, Problem & Change management process
Working Relationships
- Directly report to Line Manager/supervisor and others if need;
- Work across in different teams in different locations if need;
- Work with clients and/or counterparts if have.
Professional Responsibilities
Technology & Tasks:
- Installing, commissioning, managing, tuning, patching, supporting; troubleshooting & performing database administration for AIX Systems;
- Ability to perform initial operating system installation & configuration (including server networking & Volume Manager);
- Ability to perform System recovery, i.e. rebuild servers including hardware, operating system software and data recovery due to a server failure;
- Being responsible for Performance, Capacity & Availability Management;
- Demonstrating ability to tune UNIX system software and make recommendations for performance CPU, Memory & I/O configurations;
- Familiarity with performance monitoring tools such as: VMSTAT, SAR, IOSTAT, TOPAS, etc.
- Possessing appropriate skills in system security, vulnerability remediation, patch management and operating system hardening;
- Troubleshooting skills to effect fast problem resolution;
- ITIL knowledge especially in the areas of Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management;
- Setting up and maintain documentation and standards;
- Planning, ordering, installing, testing and maintaining all equipment and work with vendors & suppliers to resolve problems;
- General writing, testing & implementation of Unix Scripting.
- Supporting SSH;
Implementing & supporting clustering; - Knowledgeable in SAN environments & backup systems, e.g. VERITAS
NetBackup V6.5, VTL (Falconstor), IBM, HDS or EMC SAN storage environments; - Installing, commissioning, managing, supporting & performing system administration for LINUX Systems desirable but not essential.
People:
- Being team work in a dynamic environment;
- Synergizing & co-ordinating with various product lines (e.g. Applications, Network, Storage, Backups, Messaging, Security, etc) for project;
- Implementing, troubleshooting, communicating, efficiency & productivity improvement;
- Providing knowledge transfer and coach new staff members;
- Being a part of an on-call rotation scheme, i.e. serve in a 24x7 on-call rotation. As a team member of Midrange Technology Unit, odd hours may be required on occasions;
- Having strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on projects;
- Being good fluency in the English language with proficiency in written and verbal
- English communication skills;
- Developing and maintaining communications with staff, customer, vendors, and CSC designated account team as appropriate.
Customer:
- Serving as a liaison between Company and Customer, ensuring client satisfaction with company and product and delivery of support services;
- Helping ensure Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) levels are met or exceeded;
- Helping ensure all Service Levels (SLA) are met or exceeded.
Business:
- Serving as a contact for vendors of MIDRANGE related application products,
- ISVs software and services;
- Investigating sources of equipment and services and reviews and renews contracts for system support, services, and products to ensure that products and services are relevant and match company standards and specifications;
- Managing the 3rd party service providers that provide such services;
- Updating the Asset Management Configuration Management, Known Error, etc database as needed;
- Helping introduces new technology and process improvement strategies, with an understanding of past/present computing environments.
Financial:
- Evaluating Vendor products in terms of company needs to ensure that appropriate and relevant products are obtained while maintaining cost effectiveness and company efficiency;
- Keeping track of maintenance contract renewal & expiry dates;
- Preparing and recommends maintenance & refresh budgets for approval.

Professional Requirements
- At least 02 years of IT experience in system administrator role related to IBM AIX system is a must;
- Having good communication skills in Japanese is required;
- Having good English is a plus.
- Being a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills is needed;
Education/Training
- Bachelor's is a plus;
- Diploma or College’s degree is considered;
- Major in computer science, MIS (managed infrastructure service) preferred;
