Martin Johnson triumphs at 2009 all party parliamentary rugby awards

England Rugby legend Martin Johnson has received a Special Recognition Award at the 2009 All Party Parliamentary Rugby Awards sponsored by Global IT Services company CSC. The award was presented to Martin Johnson by Paul Farrelly MP, for his successes both on and off the pitch.

These annual awards represent a true celebration of sporting legends who have inspired, entertained and always led from the front. The award ceremony was held at the House of Commons on Friday, 30 January and celebrated the rugby legends of the amateur era. Each winner, a genuine legend from the 5 nations (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France) was presented with a special award. The winners were nominated and picked by the MPs.

The other award winners were: England - David Duckham, Ireland - Willie John McBride, Scotland - Andy Irvine, Wales - Gareth Edwards and France - Jean-Peirre Rives.
