CSC SIGNS £25 MILLION GLOBAL IT OUTSOURCING AGREEMENT WITH VIRGIN ATLANTIC AIRWAYS
ALDERSHOT, U.K., Jan. 22 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has signed a new global information technology (IT) outsourcing contract with Virgin Atlantic Airways, one of the world’s leading long-haul airlines. The contract has a five-year base period and one two-year option, bringing the estimated total seven-year contract value to £25 Million. The value of this contract was included in CSC’s Oct. 24, 2008, news release detailing previously unannounced contract awards for the second quarter of fiscal 2009.
Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will provide data centre hosting and managed web services in support of Virgin Atlantic’s worldwide operations. The company will provide Virgin Atlantic with a modernised, flexible service infrastructure that will be better aligned to meet changing business needs including reducing their IT carbon footprint. Services will be performed primarily in the U.K, supported by CSC delivery centres around the world.
CSC has also signed a framework agreement with Virgin Management Limited that will enable other Virgin Group operating companies to take advantage of a range of similar managed IT infrastructure services from CSC. “Through this agreement with CSC, we will look to improve the cost-effectiveness and flexibility of our IT services to support our business,” said Mike Cope, IT Director of Virgin Atlantic. “We are very pleased to add Virgin Atlantic, a market leading brand with whom CSC shares the common values of innovation, quality and service, to CSC’s list of prestigious clients,” said Nick Wilson, president of CSC’s Northern European operations. “These new agreements reflect CSC's expertise in providing critical infrastructure services to the airline industry and we look forward to helping Virgin Atlantic successfully apply IT in new and innovative ways to support its operational and business performance.” CSC previously worked with the Virgin Group to develop and deploy VirginMoneyUS.com, a Web site that helps friends and family lend money to each other for home mortgages, as well as personal and business loans.
