Raising the Bar on Public Services

The national press is only too quick to point a critical finger at government IT projects; small wonder the public believes that few have ever delivered on their promises.
Confounding Expectations
CSC is working with government and government-owned organisations – the NHS, the UK Border Agency, Royal Mail, Network Rail and others – to prove these perceptions wrong.
We're committed to delivering IT that brings real innovation to public services – and real value for money. That's why, for just $25 a head, Belgium's citizens can use their electronic ID cards to authenticate themselves online and sign documents electronically.
Changing the Way Things are Done
With CSC's help, public sector organisations are raising the bar with better efficiency. They're replacing paper-based processes with electronic ones. They're joining up systems to create integrated working environments that give better visibility and control. It all adds up to faster action, better decision-making – and cost savings.
And we're raising the bar through ingenuity – addressing old problems in new ways, like enabling GPs to use automated SMS messages to keep patients informed.
Inspiring Results
CSC's history of public sector innovation and efficiency is extensive. In 1995 we deployed the world's first internet-enabled tax system in Denmark; it's still among the most innovative today, used for 70% of Danish tax returns. In 2007 we implemented an international biometric visa applications system for the UK Border Agency – millions under budget and months early.
In between, whether a DNA patent application system in the US or faster customer service for Royal Mail, public sector organisations have been expecting IT to help them achieve more; and CSC has been delivering.
