Smart Business February 2012 - UK Edition
I'm delighted to introduce the first Smart Business newsletter of 2012. In this issue we look at three key trends that will shape the year ahead. We also explore why forward-thinking organisations are mobilising staff and consider what makes a Social Business.
We always welcome feedback so please let us know if there's anything that's captured your interest. And if you're on Twitter do come and join us there too.

Future focus
CSC's Lem Lasher predicts that the consumerisation of IT and adoption of virtualisation, and shared services, will continue to result in IT departments evolving and repurposing to continue to add value to their company.

Mobile necessity
Modern business is data-driven and so to remain competitive organisations must connect their people, wherever they and their customers need them to be, with both internal and external information, as well as one another.

CSC welcomes 'Leaders' quadrant position for cloud
Gartner's December report on Magic Quadrant for Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service positioned CSC in its 'Leaders' quadrant. The report coincided with research from CSC in to the experience of businesses use of the cloud. It found that they are overwhelmingly seeing efficiencies, better productivity and cost savings in as little as six months after implementation.

Social Business
Social CRM makes it easier for customers to consume goods and services, while Enterprise 2.0 focuses on employees and suppliers. Where these two disciplines intersect is the point where Social Business begins and employees, partners and customers can join together in collaborative value networks.

Going far with CR
CSC's CR report for 2011 'The Future is Our Business' underlines the way in which good corporate citizenship runs through the entire company. This not only leads to recognition for CSC but also ensures clients receive service built around ethical business practices, protection for the environment and support for employees and local communities.
