Etam is an international retailer of lingerie and women’s clothing. In order to reinforce its position in Europe and pursue its international expansion, taking advantage of the reputation and strength of its brand, Etam decided to unify and streamline its processes. How? Chiefly by implementing one single, integrated global management system supported by mySAP Retail, whose deployment was carried out by SAP and CSC.

The three different parts of the project

The project was composed of the retail sub-project, including purchasing, stock, inventory-taking, item, store replenishment, distribution, pricing, promotion and discount management; the finance subproject, including controlling, general ledger and AP/AR, rental, investment and fixed asset management; and lastly, the decision-support sub-project, including data analysis and decision-support tools.

800,000 cash receipt lines processed in four hours

Today, mySAP Retail manages all suppliers, purchases, stocks and store replenishment operations on a central basis for the Group’s three purchasing centers.

Every day, the 1,250 stores send their figures and sales details via a remote connection to mySAP Retail, which then calculates their respective replenishment requirements. Target volumes: 800,000 cash receipt lines processed in four hours. Those same figures also feed SAP BW, which is used for sales reporting, purchasing management, statistics preparation, as well as store/product line performance comparisons.

As for the FI and CO modules, they manage all financial flows from all subsidiaries and stores, reconciling general ledger and cost accounting data.

400 users manage their activities via mySAP Retail

Nearly 400 international users (buyers, purchasing assistants, procurement managers, stock/product/store managers, controllers, accountants) use the new Keyone solution every day to work on a collaborative basis. They express satisfaction. For example, all buyers say that they get useful information for their item management and order placement tasks.

As for top management, the executive committee and decision makers, they now get all the Group’s estimated results for the prior month on the fifth day of each month, whereas they had to wait for three weeks in the past. With one click, via SAP BW, decisionmakers have access to relevant, detailed information, including margin trends, shrink calculation and stock control.

In particular, they can view the sales for a product line per store and per region, and then navigate to other product lines for a given store or region, which enables them to anticipate financial and product flows and optimize their decisions.
