Functionality

To meet the needs of public health surveillance, the NEDSS Base System (NBS) provides robust functionality that complements public health practice:

  • Patient-centric model
  • Virtual File that allows all public health events for a patient to be viewed from one central location
  • Support for over 140 different diseases and conditions, including hepatitis, bacterial meningitis and invasive respiratory diseases, general communicable diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, and food-borne and diarrheal diseases
  • Automated entry of electronic laboratory reports
  • Data entry performed near data sources, drastically reducing reporting time while improving data quality
