Applying IT for a Cleaner, Healthier Environment

collecting environmental data in the fieldThe effective use of information technology is vital to helping the EPA meet its chief mission of protecting human health and the environment. CSC plays an essential role by delivering innovative IT solutions in support of a wide variety of EPA initiatives, including information collection and analysis, scientific application development, and enterprise-wide infrastructure services.

Acquisition, storage and processing of environmental information are vital to effectively managing programs and providing a cleaner, healthier environment. The EPA’s award-winning Central Data Exchange (CDX)—which was developed by an EPA/CSC team—is revolutionizing the exchange of environmental information between the EPA and its partners: states, tribes and industry. As part of this program, CSC has collaborated with the EPA in the development of several other projects related to CDX, such as Verify, Toxics Release Inventory, Safe Drinking Water Accession and Review System, Next Generation Node (NGN), CDX-Lite, and GIS Integration.

We have also developed hundreds of applications in support of the EPA and its scientific programs. Our end-to-end application development services blend CSC’s proven full-life-cycle development methodology and the latest technologies to ensure project success and maximum return on investment.

We also provide a wide range of Infrastructure Solutions for the EPA. As part of the ITS-EPA contract, CSC delivers a complete range of nationwide solutions, including call centers, voice-over-IP and LAN support, desktop and email support, high-performance computing services, facility operations, enterprise-server support, and Web application development. As part of our initiative, we are applying green IT to save energy and costs while reducing the environmental impact of technology.
