Innovative use of technology benefiting society
About 50 years ago, two aero engineers realized there was a need to help the computer users. Offering their services to NASA, CSC played a major role in humanity's first steps on the moon. Finn Rasmussen, Nordic Director of Infrastructure Services Sales, explains how CSC always manages to innovate by keeping an eye on the world we live in.
While CSC is known mainly as an infrastructure services provider, almost 40 percent of CSC's major business consists of the fast-growing consulting and applications market.
Why is that?
"Many of our relationships with clients have emerged from clients outsurcing their IT infrastructure to CSC. however, support for the client's business applications has often been added to the services we already provide to them. The understanding we gain about our clients' business enables us to help our clients solve important business issues through the iinovative use of technology. The eTL is an excellent example of that."
What is the eTL?
"The eTL is an innovative IT solution developed with the Danish Land Registry. It brings together all the information needed when you want to register the new ownership of a piece of land or a home. It integrates the land registry, the real estate agencies, the financial institutions, seller, and buyer, and automatically exchanges relevant information and executes the workflow associated with approving and registering the change of ownership in a nationwide database. The idea originally came when the government expressed a need. We based eTL on the service-oriented architecture (SOA) we had already developed for the Danish tax authorities. The eTL has greatly enhanced the efficiency of the home-buying process, saving the government millions. We're planning to introduce the eTL to Sweden and Norway next."
