The BizCloud success
CSC was founded 1959, at a time when there were no more than 4,000 computers on the planet. Today, CSC is one of the world's leading IT companies. Finn Rasmussen, Nordic Director of Infrastructure Services Sales, is our guide as we take a sneak peek behind the scenes of what happened when CSC first introduced BizCloud.
When the possibilities of Cloud computing made their first cautious apperance, CSC was fast on its feet.
How did CSC start out developing BizCloud?
"As one of the leaders in infrastructure services, CSC teamed up some two years ago with EMC, Cisco, and VMware to develop the most mature joint standard technology solution. Today, leading analysts have rated us leaders in Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Cloud – which was our goal when we set out on this journey."
What's the key to the success?
"We envisioned that Cloud and buying IT as a service would be major trends. Our executives realized this meant a totally different way of developing, selling and using the service. It was so far from our original way of running the business that we separated one part of CSC to develop BizCloud. To give them the freedom, flexibility, and visibility they needed to succeed, the BizCloud part of CSC worked – and still does – as an incubator organization, reporting to our CEO. This is CSC'c philosophy: to succeed in your field you must be able to work on your own premises, and not be restrained – while having the strength and combined competence of a big global company."
