Why did you choose CSC?
CSC has all key characteristics I have been looking for in an employer: global and innovative with a challenging but rewarding work environment and all of that in a fast paced IT industry.
I have always wanted to work for a global company, because I believe it offers numerous opportunities for personal and professional development. For me, a global company means a multicultural, international work environment, which to me is like fresh air. While choosing my second master degree: Management of Innovation and Business Development I had aspirations to work for a highly innovative company in the future, as I was looking for a work environment, which required not only high qualifications but also a great degree of flexibility in adapting to new and constantly changing conditions.
I enjoy a fast paced and challenging work environment as it keeps me motivated. The IT industry is indeed fast paced, constantly on a lookout for tomorrow’s technologies and solutions. Hence, CSC being a global leader of next-generation IT services and solutions, I found it as a perfect match. At the time when I was considering joining CSC, the company was in the middle of a very ambitious turnaround, introducing a new global corporate strategy and operating model. I found the opportunity to be part of the process and contributing to the transition very interesting and exciting.
What is like to be a graduate at CSC?
In a brief: challenging, interesting and rewarding. I was very positively surprised that from day 1 I was given (with a capital ‘R’) responsibilities and became very quickly a part of challenging and interesting projects, which I was hoping for when applying for the program. After a month at CSC I got assigned to manage a highly important Due Diligence process. I believe by being proactive you can influence the scope and type of your assigned projects. This is how I feel so far. I am ‘Junior’ but from day 1 I am an equivalent member of a high seniority management team, fully involved in all key account activities. Being the only ‘Junior’ on the account does not mean I cannot put my opinions forward. I even experience my senior colleagues often seek my feedback. You can ask questions whenever in doubt, but it does not exempt you from performing at your best, ensuring execution of each project at possibly highest, professional level. CSC is a big and complex company, so you need to be ready to navigate in a significant amount of information and prepare yourself to learn on the fly. Nevertheless, you can expect a very friendly atmosphere and great colleagues always willing to help.
What do you work with on a daily basis?
Currently I am assigned to one of CSC biggest clients. Being on a global, full scope account you can expect a big number of highly diversified projects and activities. I work on both strategic and operational level in a truly international team with stakeholders all over the world. So far I have been supporting new business outsourcing activities (RFI, RFP, RFQ) and I have been involved in a client service improvement program. On a daily basis I am an integral part of the service transition team. Moreover, I am supporting service delivery management with revenue leakage program, cost take-out initiatives, and asset management. On top of that I am involved in CSC branding efforts, helping enhancing the awareness of CSC as a great place to work for young, talented professionals.
Where do you see yourself in 5-year time?
It is difficult to say exactly where I will be in 5-year time. Things move really fast here, and so do career opportunities. With no exaggeration I can say that each day I am learning and discovering new things, roles and ideas for a potential future career. In the near future I would envision myself in a global role, managing global projects or accounts.
