Netherlands Railway Gets 2020 Vision

The Dutch national railway company, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), sourced its IT to not one but three vendors, hoping to capitalize on the unique strengths of each of its new partners. CSC used its Dynamic Sourcing approach to integrate vendor and railway operations and give NS the visibility and structure to efficiently manage all the relationships.

Improving the travel experience

Increased passenger numbers had begun to stretch company resources. To maintain its high standards — carrying passengers safely, on time and in comfort — NS sought to transform stations to ensure smooth connections between different forms of transport and enable activities like shopping, working and relaxing.

To improve all these areas of its business, NS needed to integrate best-of-breed IT services from a number of specialized providers.

Collaborative multipartner governance

Dutch-based IT vendor Getronics PinkRoccade became responsible for workspace management and application services. KPN, a European telecommunications company, assumed responsibility for data center hosting. CSC won the role of operational integration partner.

NS now has access to the most appropriate services from a range of suppliers and a flexible framework driving collaboration in service delivery, development and innovation.
