It's natural for us to guess what tomorrow could be like. We peer into the future and imagine a world where everyday life is constantly being transformed for the better. And then, once in a while, something dramatic happens to undermine this optimistic view.

Something like a global economic crisis, which suddenly makes future prospects seem very different from what we had imagined...

Changing the game

The credit crunch of 2009 gave the world economy one of its greatest shocks for almost a century, and we’ll be feeling the aftereffects for years to come. As we start a new decade, we can at last see welcome signs of recovery, but we’re unlikely to go back to the way things were before Autumn 2008.
