CSC Achieves ISO 27001 Certification in the Washington, DC Area
News Release -- December 01, 2011
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Dec. 1 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced that the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Information Technology Infrastructure Program (ITIP), which CSC operates, achieved a globally recognized International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001:2005 certification from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.
The certification confirms that TSA’s ITIP program is meeting a recognized benchmark and standard for security. This standard recognizes CSC’s capability to manage information security related to the provision of secure and resilient IT infrastructure and facility management. The ISO 27001 brings with it several benefits, such as lower expenses, improved security, clearer definitions of department roles and standardized procedures.
“This certification represents the highest level of standards for security information management and is respected and recognized across the global information technology industry,” said Mike Gaffney, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Civil Group. “This accomplishment demonstrates our commitment to quality of service through delivering IT services in a secure manner and our ability to support government agencies as they continue to expand into new technologies such as cloud computing.”
CSC currently provides IT infrastructure services support for TSA, a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Specifically, the ITIP services support IT security, solutions delivery, business activities and operational effectiveness for TSA throughout its global IT infrastructure.
The ISO 27001 standard provides IT-related security management system controls that help satisfy the requirements of many regulatory standards. ISO 27001 recognizes that an organization conforms to acceptable standards of quality at every stage of its product or service through a series of documented, repeatable processes.
