CSC Recognized as A Top Military-Friendly Employer
News Release -- November 14, 2011
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Nov. 14 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has received two significant awards for the employment of veterans and military spouses. The company was recognized by G.I. Jobs magazine as one of America’s “Top 100 Military Friendly Employers,” and by Military Spouse magazine as a “Top 20 Military Spouse Friendly Employer.”
CSC achieved these recognitions for its well-established Military Recruitment Program. Through this program, the company provides transitional support to active military personnel, and reaches out to wounded warriors by participating in Warriors to Work and other initiatives. By creating one of the most military-friendly workplaces anywhere, CSC seeks to support active service members and help veterans and their families find new careers. CSC also has a robust military spouse program that began in 2003 to facilitate employment opportunities and provide one-on-one assistance and career portability to military spouses wherever possible.
The eighth annual G.I. Jobs list, published in the magazine’s December 2011 issue, honors the companies that are doing the most to recruit America’s veterans. The top 100 businesses selected for the “Military Friendly Employers” designation represent the most prominent two percent of all corporate recruiting programs aimed at military veterans.
The fifth annual Military Spouse list recognizes corporations for their efforts to employ spouses of military troops. CSC has been recognized on the list each year since its inception. Rankings are based on company responses to surveys about policies for spouses who are married to a member of the Reserve/Guard called to active duty, as well as for spouses married to an active duty member of the Armed Forces.
“It is a great honor to be recognized as one of the leading military-friendly employers in the industry,” said Jose Jimenez, chief diversity officer, CSC. “CSC continues to grow stronger thanks to the unique skills and experiences of our military veterans and military spouses. Their leadership, integrity and perseverance are an asset to the company, and we are grateful for their significant contributions to our success.”
Today, approximately 10,000 CSC employees and approximately 20 percent of CSC’s U.S. team have served in the military. With its commitment to recruiting and hiring military veterans and their spouses, CSC helps those in our military community realize their professional aspirations through valuable career choices.
