CSC Surpasses Goal for Global Blood Drive Program

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Feb. 22 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced that its global blood drive program, GiveBlood.GiveLife, surpassed its 2010 goal by 1,134 units, collecting a total of 11,134 units. Employees in 26 countries participated in more than 100 blood drives to support the campaign, now in its third year.
In partnership with the American Red Cross, the GiveBlood.GiveLife campaign has grown substantially since its inception. The program began in 2009 at the CSC headquarters in Falls Church, Va., with a 1,000-pint challenge to employees. The mission of the program, to support the critical work of organizations like the Red Cross, received overwhelming support and was expanded to include CSC employees across the globe. The campaign now challenges employees to donate 10,000 units per year, a goal which will continue in 2011.
“Donations from this CSC program may have helped save the lives of more than 2,000 local patients and more than 30,000 patients worldwide. The Red Cross commends CSC on these remarkable efforts to help ensure a safe blood supply for all of our communities,” said Gary J. Blood drives are regularly sponsored at CSC office locations, and an overwhelming number of employees also elect to donate blood on their own time. In 2010, CSC-sponsored blood drives took place at more than 50 office locations worldwide. Employees located in areas where no formal drives were held also have the opportunity to participate by donating blood on their own time at local drives.
Countries that participated in the 2010 program include Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K., U.S. and Vietnam.
