News Release -- November 15, 2010
FALLS CHURCH, Va., November 15 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Office of Clinical Standards and Quality awarded the company a task order to migrate key information technology (IT) systems to a new service-oriented architecture. The contract, which was awarded during CSC’s fiscal 2011 second quarter, has a six-month base period and six one-year options, bringing the estimated 78-month contract value to $230 million.
The task order was awarded under the CMS Enterprise Systems Development indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, which was originally awarded to CSC in 2007.
Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will provide design and development services, consolidating three groups of applications to create a service-oriented IT architecture. Specifically, CSC will be responsible for maintaining operations for the Standard Data Processing System, the Value Based Purchasing and the End Stage Renal Disease application groups. Additionally, CSC will support the collection, analysis, reporting and management of claims, clinical, survey and project data from Medicare and Medicaid providers.
“CSC has worked closely with CMS for more than a decade and we are pleased to offer an evolutionary road map to transform its existing legacy applications into a service-oriented platform,” said Dr. Robert Wah, vice president and chief medical officer of CSC’s North American Public Sector. “CMS is central to health reform and we look forward to modernizing and consolidating systems which will improve quality of care and save money.”
