CSC Recognized for Achievements in Corporate Responsibility
News Release -- July 19, 2010
FALLS CHURCH, Va., July 19 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has been recognized by the FTSE4Good Index Series, an index series that recognizes companies for their corporate responsibility standards, and by Business in the Community’s CR Index, the UK’s leading voluntary benchmark of corporate responsibility.
“We are extremely proud that CSC has met the criteria to be included in both the FTSE4Good Index for 2010 and Business in the Community’s 2009 CR Index,” said CSC Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael W. Laphen. “This achievement is a testament to our corporate responsibility efforts and our commitment to supporting global sustainability standards.”
Created by the global index company FTSE Group, FTSE4Good is an equity index series that is designed to facilitate investment in companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards. Companies in the FTSE4Good Index Series have met stringent social and environmental criteria, and are positioned to capitalize on the benefits of responsible business practice. According to FTSE Group’s latest review, 23 new companies will be added to the FTSE4Good Index. CSC is one of only two U.S. companies that will be added to this list at this time.
Business in the Community’s CR Index helps companies integrate and improve corporate responsibility efforts throughout their operations by providing a systematic approach to managing, measuring and reporting on business impacts in society and on the environment. The index also assesses the extent to which responsible business practices are embedded within corporate strategy and operations.
“At Business in the Community we champion companies like CSC for the active role they play in improving their business practices to create a better society for us all,” said Stephen Howard, CEO, Business in the Community. “CSC’s commitment to action in addressing its social and environmental impacts is highly commended and I am delighted to report that CSC is among our top ten improvers in the 2009 CR Index. Strong leadership in the company is evident and I am excited about the potential that CSC has to do more in driving forward change across the business globally.”
