CSC Wins Fourth Defense Department Mentor-Protégé Award
News Release -- April 27, 2010
FALLS CHURCH, Va., April 27 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that the Department of Defense (DoD) awarded the company the Nunn-Perry Award for its mentor-protégé agreement with Occam Solutions, Inc., of McLean, Va. This marks the fourth year CSC has earned the honor since it was first awarded in 1995. The Nunn-Perry Award, named in honor of former Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, recognizes outstanding mentor-protégé teams from the Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Program.
“At CSC, we are committed to working with small businesses, and large businesses owned by women, minorities, veterans and others of diverse backgrounds, to increase supplier diversity to support our federal clients,” said Austin Yerks, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Defense Group. “This award reflects our commitment to nurturing disadvantaged businesses and is a testament to our successful relationship with Occam Solutions.”
Under the program, major DoD prime contractors (mentors) help small, disadvantaged businesses (protégés) compete more successfully for government contracts. The companies in the program cover a broad range of industries, including environmental remediation, manufacturing, telecommunications and healthcare. The Nunn-Perry Award is based on return on investment to the DoD, the quality of the mentor’s assistance and the protégé’s development.
Occam Solutions has been a CSC protégé since July 2007 under the U.S. Army’s Strategic Services Sourcing, and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance contracts.
