CSC Names Andy Purdy Chief Cybersecurity Strategist

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Feb. 1 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) named Donald “Andy” Purdy chief cybersecurity strategist. He will report to Samuel S. Visner, CSC lead for Cyber and vice president for strategy and business development of the North American Public Sector (NPS) Enforcement, Security and Intelligence Group.

In this role, Purdy will build on and extend our efforts to date to address client cybersecurity needs across CSC. He will extend an approach that encompasses the enterprise needs of CSC's global client base, as well as the national security requirements associated with the public sector. In addition, he will help inform public policy and cyber awareness.

“Andy is one of very few people who comprehend the tremendous cybersecurity challenge as it relates to all parts of the private sector, as well as the public sector,” said Visner. “His contribution to our cyber strategy will be of value to our clients around the world and the CSC sectors that serve them.”

Most recently, Purdy was president of DRA Enterprises, Inc., a firm providing information technology and business development consulting services in the areas of cyber risk assessment and mitigation. He was also a partner with the law firm of Allenbaugh Samini Gosheh, LLP, with offices in Irvine, Calif. and Washington, D.C. Purdy will continue his role as co-director of George Mason University’s International Cyber Center (ICC), which helps lead efforts to better identify and address global cyber issues. Andy was also a member of the White House staff team that helped draft the U.S. National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace (2003). Shortly after its release by President Bush in February 2003, Andy worked on the Department of Homeland Security’s tiger team that helped form the National Cyber Security Division (NCSD) and the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) and eventually led both. In addition to holding general and special counsel positions with various federal entities, Purdy served as a network television news producer with NBC and CBS News in Washington.
