CSC WINS $85 MILLION TASK ORDER TO PROVIDE CYBER INVESTIGATIONS TRAINING
News Release -- October 13, 2009
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 13 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that the General Service Administration's (GSA) Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM) awarded the company a task order to provide cyber training in support of the Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy (DCITA) in Linthicum, Md. The task order, which was competitively awarded under the U.S. GSA Millennia contract, has a one-year base period and four one-year options, bringing the estimated total five-year value to $85 million. This contract was awarded to CSC during the company's fiscal 2010 second quarter.
Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will continue to design, develop and teach more than 20 standards-based courses in areas such as security, law enforcement, counterintelligence, computer forensics, incident response and network intrusion. CSC will also implement an online training system to provide collaboration and information sharing across the DoD. This new functionality provides students with hands-on forensic training through a web browser from anywhere in the world.
"The relentless changes in technology, cyber landscape and threats demand that we provide the very best training to our students; from the fundamentals to key tactics, techniques and procedures all delivered through innovative and dynamic methodology," said Matthew Parsons, director of DCITA. "DCITA is pleased with the CSC award and anxious to continue our progress in training DoD's network investigators and operators in this critical mission."
"This training will increase the nation's supply of forensic investigators who are needed to combat the cyber war and respond to intrusions," said Aaron Fuller, president of CSC's North American Public Sector Enforcement, Security and Intelligence Group. "Investigators have solved crimes of terrorism, fraud and computer or network intrusion in the United States and around the world. Through our worldwide government and commercial cyber expertise, we have an unmatched ability to support the training requirements for the defense industrial base and the growing requirements of the President's Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative."
The Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative was developed to improve how the federal government protects sensitive information on agency networks.
Since the academy's inception in 1998, CSC has designed and taught all of the academy's courses. The American Council of Education has approved seven of these courses for college credit. DCITA's mission is expanding considerably under the President's Comprehensive National Cyber Initiative program.
CSC cyber expertise extends across the defense, homeland, national security, intelligence and civil communities, and commercial enterprises including petrochemical, financial, telecommunications and energy. CSC safeguards the networks of some of the world's major corporations and provides full lifecycle infrastructure and architecture solutions, including security infrastructure; information assurance; cyber offense/defense; and identity management.
