CSC EXPANDS AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT CAPABILITIES WITH XAVIUS TECHNOLOGY SUITE

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 27 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has purchased Xavius Software LLC’s air traffic control (ATC) simulator technology suite to expand the company’s air traffic management capabilities. With the new technology, CSC will provide customers with advanced simulation solutions and software applications to support ATC training, air space and surface management simulation, and advanced concept design. In addition, the technology will support the company’s Training and Simulation High Growth Market organization, which aims to develop and deliver improved training solutions across the entire federal marketplace. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Xavius’ suite of technologies includes a full-scale ATC radar training simulator, air traffic management tools and an integrated control tower simulator that supports a range of configurations from single-display desktops to full 360-degree virtual control tower rooms. The technology suite currently supports worldwide training and simulation needs for government and academic institutions, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Universities of Alaska and Maryland, as well as the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida.

Christopher Coon, Xavius software architect, will join CSC to manage the air traffic management software, as well as provide aviation thought leadership to accelerate the implementation of the FAA’s NextGen plan to deliver new operational capabilities, airport infrastructure and improvements to safety, security and environmental performance.

“Training and simulation is a major growth area within the federal market as agencies look to virtual training environments to improve readiness and human performance while reducing cost,” said Thomas Anderson, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Civil Division. “Combining CSC’s leadership in air traffic management services and training with Xavius’ innovative simulation expertise expands our capability to provide adaptable, operationally ready and cost effective simulation services to our customers and supports the FAA’s efforts to accelerate its NextGen implementation.”

CSC's wide range of air traffic management services includes the FAA's Traffic Flow Management Modernization (TFMM), Traffic Management Advisor (TMA) and Direct User Access Terminal Service (DUATS), as well as the U.S. Air Force's Flight Planning Systems (Air Mobility Command) and the U.S. Army's Flight School XXI.
