CSC COMPLETES TENTH SUCCESSFUL IT SECURITY EVALUATION FOR XEROX
News Release -- August 20, 2009
Xerox's WorkCentre 5600 Series Multifunction Printers Meet Stringent Security Standard
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Aug. 20 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced that Xerox Corporation has successfully completed its tenth consecutive Common Criteria for Information Technology (IT) Security Evaluation since its relationship with CSC began in 2004.
The evaluation, also known as ISO 15408, is an international standard for computer security certification. The Common Criteria certification is recognized in 25 nations and assures state and national governments that processes for the specification, implementation and evaluation of security features of IT products and systems, as well as the product development and management life-cycle, have been conducted in a rigorous and standardized manner and comply with minimum security requirements.
Xerox's WorkCentre 5600 series multifunction printers (MFPs) were among the latest products to receive Common Criteria certification. The series includes seven MFPs, which have security features to protect confidential information as it is printed, copied, faxed or scanned.
"Ensuring our customers' sensitive information is secure as it flows through our equipment is a top priority, and Common Criteria certification provides assurance that our MFPs meet a stringent standard," said Larry Kovnat, product security manager, Xerox Corporation.
"This milestone underscores our long-standing relationship with Xerox and validates their trust in CSC's dedication, teamwork and security service delivery," said James Menendez, vice president of CSC's Global Security Solutions. "Every product evaluated for Xerox by CSC was finished on time and resulted in certification."
CSC is the only company that performs Common Criteria evaluations under validation bodies on three continents. CSC's Security Testing and Certification Labs are located in the United States, Germany and Australia.
