CSC TO PROVIDE MANAGED HOSTING SERVICES TO SALEM HOSPITAL REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICES
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Feb. 13 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that it has signed a seven-year, $8.9 million agreement with Salem Hospital Regional Health Services of Salem, Ore. Under terms of the agreement, CSC will provide managed hosting services to support the hospital’s Epic Systems clinical applications.
Because Salem Hospital is located in Oregon and CSC’s production hosting facility is in Virginia, the agreement becomes the industry’s first commercially hosted and managed Epic Enterprise application from a remote data center. More than 40 CSC systems engineers, service delivery personnel and network security specialists will support the hospital’s applications infrastructure, which is mission critical for patient care.
“CSC will work with both Salem Hospital and Epic Systems to create and maintain a robust and flexible environment that optimizes performance of the software suite,” said Daniel T. Garrett, managing partner of CSC’s Global Health Solutions organization. “Our technological expertise and healthcare industry experience will help Salem achieve results that support its business objectives.”
“Salem Hospital Regional Health Services selected CSC because of its commitment to excellence in supporting our goal of implementing cost-effective, patient-centric and high-availability systems,” said Dennis Sato, vice president and chief information officer. “The relationship with CSC is consistent with our mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.”
CSC’s managed hosting offerings comprise a broad range of data center, network, security, server and applications services that can be configured to provide a fully managed hosted solution. Clients can choose from a variety of services and configurations depending on their technical and cost requirements.
CSC’s Global Health Solutions Practice is organized to serve all aspects of the healthcare industry -- provider, payor and supplier (pharmaceutical, biotech and distributors) in both the commercial and public health sectors. CSC offers consulting and outsourcing solutions that simplify the administrative process; create customized and accessible patient information to create loyal consumers; improve research productivity and speed to market on new discoveries; and improve clinical outcomes.
