EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Aug. 29 - Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has won a contract to provide comprehensive mission support services to the new Water Security Division within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water. The division was established to address water security and infrastructure protection issues in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks. CSC estimates the value of the contract, which has one base year and four one-year options, to be approximately $86 million if all options are exercised.

Specific responsibilities include planning and training, development and distribution of outreach materials, contaminant research, analytical method development, laboratory network management, engineering support, and security and emergency response improvements at water and wastewater facilities. In addition, CSC will help improve procedures and performance measures for assessing and mitigating the vulnerability of the nation’s water infrastructure.

“The EPA has the responsibility for coordinating and protecting the critical infrastructure for the nation’s water sector,” said Ray Henry, president of CSC’s Civil Systems Development organization. “We are honored to apply our legacy of experience with the agency and deliver the sound results necessary to ensure water resources are secure.”
