CSC’S U.S. ARMY LOGISTICS MODERNIZATION PROGRAM ACHIEVES COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT ACT
News Release -- September 05, 2007
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 5 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that the U.S. Army’s Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) has achieved compliance with the Federal Financial Management Improvement Act (FFMIA). The designation means that the LMP substantially meets federal financial systems requirements, applicable federal accounting standards and the U.S. Government Standard General Ledger at the transaction level. This compliance designation strengthens the viability of future LMP deployments. The Army’s LMP is one of the world’s largest enterprise resource planning implementations and is completely modernizing the Army’s supply chain management operations. CSC provides end-to-end application development and support services for the LMP.
“FFMIA compliance illustrates the CSC-LMP team’s commitment to implementing and maintaining sound financial management systems that achieve desired results while delivering IT-enabled business solutions,” said Austin Yerks, president of CSC’s Defense Division. “This designation lays a foundation for continued success moving forward.”
For agencies to achieve FFMIA compliance, they must demonstrate that their solution fulfills hundreds of requirements against which they are being measured. The FFMIA guide to compliance, or Bluebook, contains approximately 6,500 potential requirements, making compliance challenging and time-consuming.
The CSC-LMP team began the attestation process in January 2006. Auditors from the Army Audit Agency assessed 757 requirements and commended the team’s preparedness, thoroughness and management processes.
