CSC ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL DESKTOP SERVICES LINE OF CROSS-INDUSTRY SOLUTIONS
News Release -- April 03, 2009
Company Establishes Regional Service Centers to Support Global Offerings
FALLS CHURCH, Va., April 3 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced CSC Virtual Desktop Services, the company's line of enterprise information technology (IT) services designed to increase workplace flexibility and help customers respond to changing business demands. Offerings include CSC Dynamic Desktop and CSC Anywhere Desktop solutions.
CSC Dynamic Desktop, a virtual desktop service offering based on Citrix XenDesktop™, is currently being piloted and deployed for CSC clients in North America and Europe. Based on Sun Microsystems' Sun Ray™ thin clients, CSC Anywhere Desktop was recently deployed at multiple CSC financial services business process outsourcing locations as well as one of the company's world sourcing locations in India.
In addition, CSC is collaborating with Dell and NetApp to design and deploy CSC Dynamic Desktop to help clients drive additional cost and complexity out of their virtual desktop IT environment and deliver optimized computing capacity. To date, the companies have jointly developed and delivered integrated data center solutions, high-performance computing systems and managed infrastructure services.
Now available as global offerings, the solutions enable companies and organizations to host and centrally manage virtual desktop machines on servers in data centers, while giving end users a full desktop computer experience.
In addition, CSC is establishing regional service centers in North America and Europe to support these new services, with additional expansion planned for other regions. The centers leverage the company's world sourcing capabilities to provide a full range of support, including help desk, transition, configuration, monitoring, applications and asset management services.
"These global offerings further strengthen our position in the high growth virtual desktop services market," said Russ Owen, president of CSC's Americas Commercial Group. "We are very pleased to be working with world-class technology partners such as Citrix, Dell and Sun to provide customers with sound business solutions backed by experienced IT services leaders."
Desktop virtualization enables users to access their desktop and work from virtually anywhere, anytime, from around the world. CSC Virtual Desktop Services offerings help customers improve compliance and reduce security risk, decrease maintenance costs,
simplify and enhance user mobility and deliver on green agendas.
