CSC WINS $113 MILLION CONTRACT TO SUPPORT DOD ACCOUNTING UNIT
Falls Church, Va., Oct. 3 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC:NYSE) has been awarded a contract to provide integrated technical support services in support of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service - Financial Systems Organization (FSO).
Under the terms of the contract, CSC will support Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) financial systems activities and operating locations throughout the United States. The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity task-order contract contains a base value of $24 million and a cumulative value of $113 million if all options are exercised over a five-year period.
CSC will provide hardware migration and installation, systems modernization, maintenance, technology, documentation, training, quality assurance, project management, and economic and risk analysis. The services will directly support more than 200 DFAS automated information systems as well as ongoing software process improvement initiatives.
The contract will be performed by CSC's Integrated Systems Division and involve several hundred software engineers, financial analysts and other information technology specialists.
DFAS-FSO provides software development and maintenance for finance and accounting systems operated by DFAS and the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition, the agency provides technical support at DFAS headquarters in Arlington, Va., and to DFAS locations in Indianapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Pensacola, Denver and Kansas City.
"This contract complements both the Joint Computer-aided Acquisition Logistic Support contract and the Defense Enterprise Integration Support contract CSC is now performing for the Department of Defense," said Milton E. Cooper, president of CSC's Systems Group. "Working together, these contracts create a dynamic synergy which should speed the process as DFAS and other DOD agencies move to electronically link their modernized systems."
Teaming with CSC are UNISYS Federal Systems Division, McLean, Va.; Grant Thorton LLP, Vienna, Va.; JP Associates, Inc., Fairfax, Va.; Ventura Technology International, Indianapolis, Ind.; Diverse Technologies Corp., Clinton, Md.; DSD Laboratories, Sudbury, Mass.; and Barquin and Associates, Bethesda, Md.
CSC had $5 billion in revenues for the 12 months ended June 28, 1996, including revenues from the recently acquired Continuum Company, which have been combined with CSC's revenues because the acquisition is accounted for as a pooling of interests. CSC is headquartered in El Segundo, Calif., and has nearly 40,000 employees in more than 600 offices worldwide providing clients with a wide range of professional services including management consulting, business reengineering, information systems consulting and integration, and outsourcing.
