CSC EXPANDS NSA BREAKTHROUGH TEAM WITH THE ADDITION OF KEANE FEDERAL SYSTEMS
Falls Church, Va., Dec. 28 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) has announced that Keane Federal Systems has been added to its Breakthrough contract team in support of the National Security Agency (NSA). The outsourcing contract, awarded in August of this year, is the first federal government contact that involves the voluntary transition of federal employees to the private sector.
Keane Federal Systems joins a contract team that already includes Data Procurement Corp., of Gaithersburg, Md., and Data Computer Corporation of America, of Ellicott City, Md. Keane will provide life cycle support primarily in the area of logistics software applications and computer operations.
CSC supports the NSA with operations and services involving software enhancements, configuration management, installation, hardware and software upgrades, and associated customer support.
"This teaming arrangement will minimize the government's risk and maximize performance," said Stephen Tate, chairman of the NSA strategic direction team. "We have every confidence that when this outsourcing process is completed, it will be a win-win situation for both private industry and the federal government."
CSC is supporting the Breakthrough contract with approximately 50 software engineers and computer specialists assigned to its Maryland Intelligence Center, a unit of the company's Defense Group, in Hanover, Md. To date, 30 former NSA employees have joined CSC and the company is ahead of schedule to meet the employee-transition plan as outlined by the NSA.
