CSC AND DOCUMENT SCIENCES INTEGRATE SYSTEMS TO STREAMLINE DOCUMENT CREATION AND DELIVERY

Sammons Financial Group First Insurer to Benefit from Alliance

EL SEGUNDO and CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug. 31 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) and Document Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: DOCX) today announced a cooperative marketing agreement under which the policy and forms creation and delivery capabilities of Document Sciences’ xPression have been integrated with CSC’s nbAccelerator and CyberLife software.

The agreement enables CSC’s life insurance and annuity clients to ease compliance and streamline the creation and delivery of policies, contracts, claims correspondence and other documents. The first implementation of this joint solution is for Sammons Financial Group Inc. (SFG), an insurance holding company that has grown rapidly over the past several years both through growth in its core businesses and through acquisition.

“One of our goals with this implementation is to eliminate redundant software and information technology support costs across all of SFG’s insurance subsidiaries,” said Keith Ulrich, project leader for Corporate Output Management at SFG. “We produce in excess of 100,000 print images each week and have been using disparate document automation systems to create and manage this output. We needed a technology solution that integrates well with our new insurance administration system from CSC and are projecting significant ROI from this project.”

CSC’s nbAccelerator (nbA) is the North American insurance industry's most complete new-business work management and risk assessment system, seamlessly integrating the policy issuing process from application to contract delivery. CSC’s CyberLife is a Web-enabled, real-time system that supports both traditional and non-traditional North American life and annuity products. It offers full administrative processing, regulatory support, correspondence, billing and collections, commissions and financial reporting.

Document Sciences’ awarding-winning xPression technology provides content publishing services that integrate with insurers’ existing business workflows to create and deliver both real-time and high-volume regulated insurance communications, such as policies, contracts, letters and other forms, customized for each policyholder.

“CSC is a clear leader when it comes to systems integration and enterprise application development for the insurance industry,” said Jack McGannon, president and chief executive officer of Document Sciences. “Both xPression and nbA use application server technology, ACORD XML standards and Web services. By leveraging these similarities in architecture, we were able to ease integration efforts for the SFG implementation.”

“The dynamic content publishing capabilities of Document Sciences’ xPression enable CSC to help SFG and other insurers streamline delivery of regulated communications, including contracts, within nbAccelerator and CyberLife,” said Darren Klauser, vice president of the Life and Annuities division of CSC’s Financial Services Group.
