EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Dec. 1 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that it has been identified in a recent study by IDC, a leading provider of global IT research and advice, as one of the world's leading application management service providers, as measured by annual revenues. The IDC report also identified CSC as the world's largest "software as a service" vendor among the top 10 application management companies. This is the second consecutive year CSC has been seated among the top 10 vendors in this category.
The "software as a service" category includes vendors who provide access to and management of applications in a hosted, relatively standardized environment.
The study, "Worldwide Application Management Competitive Analysis, 2003, IDC's Top 10 Vendors for 2002," estimates that service providers generated close to $15 billion in application management revenues globally in 2002. The report forecasts that worldwide annual revenue for application management services will increase to more than $25 billion by 2007.
"CSC has been a significant player in the application management market for many years, and we are pleased that IDC has once again recognized us as one of the global leaders," said Mary Jo Morris, president of CSC's Global Transformation Solutions group. "We are especially proud of the fact that IDC again ranks CSC as a leading 'software as a service' vendor within the application management market, because we place great emphasis on this growing market."
CSC is an acknowledged leader in application management and business transformation, helping public and private clients achieve significantly improved levels of performance. The IDC study detailed CSC's capabilities in the areas of application development, legacy maintenance and operations support. Also cited were CSC's wide range of enterprise management software alliances and the company's ability to deliver proprietary software products specifically developed for industries such as financial services and healthcare.
"IDC estimates that CSC is among the three largest application management companies in the world," said Jessica Goepfert, program manager, AppSourcing Research, and the study's author. "In addition, of all the top 10 players in the AM market, CSC has the largest software as a service revenue. This is evidence that traditional application management vendors like CSC inherently possess many of the capabilities and skills necessary to deliver software as a service."
