CSC NAMES VICE PRESIDENT FOR HOMELAND SECURITY

New Offering Focused on Security Technology, Anti-Terror Solutions

FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 5 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today named Ben Gianni vice president for Homeland Security, a new position. He reports to Paul Cofoni, president of CSC’s Federal Sector business unit.

In leading the company’s efforts to develop new tools and technology-based solutions for homeland security, Gianni will draw upon CSC’s 40 years of experience supporting federal, state and local government agencies in systems integration, physical and information security, and systems development.

“Ben has supported clients at all levels of government during his 20 years with CSC,” Cofoni said. “His experience makes him the right choice to direct CSC’s efforts in support of homeland security.”

Gianni will oversee CSC experts with backgrounds in anti- and counter-terrorism, asymmetric warfare, information and physical security, biometrics, data management, enterprise integration, and networking and communications.

According to Gianni, CSC is working to address agencies’ emerging needs in establishing greater physical access control and identifying potential threats using such tools as biometrics and cross-enterprise databases. “These are two areas which are going to be increasingly critical to agencies in carrying out their homeland security missions,” he said.

New Security Offering

An important part of CSC’s new security offering is the Anti-Terror Assessment Program (ATAP), which helps organizations identify threats to people, information and critical infrastructure. Under the program, CSC specialists simulate hostile acts to reveal security weaknesses in a customer’s operations and then recommend and provide appropriate protective measures.

“An effective approach to national security will not be found in a single product, technology or point solution,” Gianni said. “We employ a systematic, multifaceted approach using analytical tools, such as ATAP, to identify and solve the complex, mission-critical problems our customers face.”

ATAP measures the casualties and economic costs likely to result from hostile acts, accounting for variables and conditions unique to each client. Each assessment includes consideration of the customer’s policies, procedures and systems, as well as the regional response capabilities in law enforcement and medical assistance.

“We need to consider how the threat looks at us, and ATAP provides that real-world perspective,” said Vincent Anthony, CSC’s director of Homeland Security/Asymmetric Warfare overseeing ATAP. “Our specialists thoroughly evaluate all aspects of our customers’ operations in order to anticipate an aggressor’s moves past the fences and firewalls.”

The new offering follows CSC’s best-of-breed enterprise information risk management service, CSC CybercareSM, launched in December 2001. CSC provides CyberCare services for commercial clients in the aerospace, chemical and healthcare industries. Government clients include the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Defense Information Systems Agency and the General Services Administration.
