CSAM Donates RM80K In Aid Of China and Myanmar Disasters

PETALING JAYA, 22nd August 2008 – Computer Systems Advisers (M) Sdn Bhd (CSAM), a wholly owned subsidiary of CSC (NYSE:CSC), announced today that it has donated RM80,952.00 to MERCY Malaysia in support of its efforts to help the people affected by the recent natural disasters in China and Myanmar.

The China earthquake and Myanmar cyclone, which occurred on 12th May and 2nd May 2008, respectively, caused widespread damage, massive displacements, injuries and fatalities in the two countries. In Myanmar, official figures put the number of deaths resulting from Cyclone Nargis at 84,537, with 53,836 missing and 19,359 injured. Estimates however put the death toll much higher – closer to 300,000 -- with another estimated 5.5 million people affected. The China disaster, the Sichuan Earthquake, officially recorded 69,207 deaths, while the number of people listed as missing and injured stood at 18,194 and 374,468, respectively.

The funds were contributed by employees and the Company in response to the call for help just after the disasters struck China and Myanmar.

“I am pleased that our employees recognize the importance of being socially responsible and participated in CSAM’s corporate social responsibility campaign to help China and Myanmar,” said Mr Chuah Tai Eu, Managing Director, CSAM. “CSAM will continue to practice corporate responsibility, not only in the community, but also the marketplace, workplace and environment. Corporate responsibility is an intrinsic part of our management and employee culture, which will create economic and social value, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the community we serve.”

“Although both the Sichuan Earthquake and Cyclone Nargis both occurred about three months ago, the people of both countries still face the mammoth task of rebuilding their lives,” said MERCY Malaysia General Manager, Ms Mona Hanim Sheikh Mahmud. “We are grateful for efforts from entities like CSAM who realize that rebuilding lives is a long, arduous process and continue to raise monetary assistance for the survivors.”
