Predica Supports High-End Products and Merger with CSC's GraphTalk A.I.A Administration System

As the personal insurance subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole Group, Predica is the leading bank insurance and second biggest life insurance company in France. The company manages 13 million policies with five applications in its information technology system. At the heart of its business applications, CSC’s GraphTalk A.I.A manages the company’s high-end policies, which need complex functionality.
Following the merger of Crédit Agricole with another large bank, LCL, Predica merged with LCL’s Union des Assurances Fédérales (UAF). Both insurance companies had selected GraphTalk A.I.A as their strategic product, and they talked to CSC about consolidating on a single platform.
Support for Migrating to a New System
The company decided to migrate 18 products from UAF to the Predica’s GraphTalk A.I.A system. However, the high-end UAF product lines were not standard. “It was therefore necessary to upgrade the application so that it would be able to integrate the 18 high-end UAF products into a Predica platform that up to then had only managed four such products,” said Didier Weill, manager of Insurance Products in the Information
Systems Division of Predica.
Nearly 7,000 man-days of work were needed for the migration. CSC was involved in the project from its beginning, including writing the specifications, implementing developments and managing acceptance tests by the Information Systems director and users.
Improved Usability, Product Development
The merger of the two resulted in significant functional enhancement of the Predica insurance system. “We were able to get very familiar with the tool and ensure its continued use in our development. We are sharper now and have developed a wide range of high-end products,” Weill said.
There are now more than 22 products and more than 300,000 policies managed by GraphTalk A.I.A at Predica. “The CSC tool makes it extremely easy to upgrade these products, while offering an abundance of high-end functions,” Weill added.
Predica is able to perform custom engineering with the software but its parameter-driven capabilities make it easy to maintain. “CSC provides us with application building blocks and we construct our business solutions with them. Moreover, CSC was intensely involved in our merger project and its teams have met the required deadlines.”
Next Steps for Distribution
Predica continues to rely on GraphTalk A.I.A as it moves on to the next phase. The new work of the insurance company is focused on providing access to GraphTalk A.I.A from its agents’ and networks’ workstations. The company has a variety of distribution networks including regional savings banks, agencies and independent wealth management consultants.
“The installation of GraphTalk A.I.A in the back office was suitable for starting up activities with our high-end product line. Now, it is essential for the consultant to be able to perform almost all management actions in the presence of his client. The version of Graph Talk A.I.A used today is particularly suited to such customisation, which is necessary throughout the life of the contracts.”
