CSC LICENSES LEGAL MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE TO TWO INSURERS
CSC’s Legal Solutions Suite to Boost Cost Savings, Efficiency and Communication
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 16, 2005 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that two insurers have licensed its legal management software. The PMA Insurance Group, a premier property and casualty insurer specializing in workers compensation, and MAG Mutual Insurance Company, the largest physician-owned medical professional liability insurer in the Southeastern U.S., will use components of CSC’s Legal Solutions Suite to manage legal expenditures and improve processes and communication with outside legal counsel.
CSC’s Legal Solutions Suite, formerly known as LitigationAdvisor, is Web based and includes Legal e-Bill, Legal Bill Analyzer and Legal Matter Manager. It automates core legal management processes and provides integrated electronic invoicing to help insurers work more effectively with their law firms.
MAG Mutual will integrate the Legal Solutions Suite with CSC’s POINT IN policy and claims management software, which the insurer has been using since 1996.
“We chose CSC’s legal management software to enhance our loss adjustment expense cost controls and provide additional value to our defense attorneys by offering them productivity gains and advanced technology through electronic invoicing and systems access,” said Alan Mercaldo, MAG Mutual Insurance Company vice president and chief information officer.
The PMA Insurance Group will use CSC’s Legal e-Bill and Legal Bill Analyzer to manage its legal expenditures and automate its litigation management program. Automated bill review lets case managers set guidelines for rates and allowable charges by outside counsel. Outside law firms can then review their invoices before they submit them over the Internet and get immediate feedback on errors or areas that need clarification, minimizing the number of invoices that must be reviewed by hand and reducing associated expenses.
“CSC has extensive experience helping organizations manage their work with outside counsel, and we appreciate the confidence these insurers have placed in us,” said Ed Charlton, vice president of CSC’s Claims, Legal and Self-Insured Solutions. “With the rapid rise of tort-related expenses, insurers are seeing real results from the process improvements and cost review capabilities our legal management software offers.”
