CSC AWARDED CYBER SECURITY CONTRACT BY USDA
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Aug. 10 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it is one of six companies awarded a blanket purchase agreement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide security support. The agreement has a one-year base period, four one-year options and an estimated maximum total ceiling value of $30 million for all six firms.
Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will compete to assist the USDA in implementing new cyber security measures to ensure the proactive protection and security of its networks, applications and hardware. These measures will include identifying security vulnerabilities, responding to attacks against agency resources and implementing corrective action accordingly.
"Cyber attacks on U.S. government agencies are on the rise and CSC will play a vital role in supporting the USDA with expert resources and leadership in cyber protection strategy, solutions and development to manage risk and mitigate affects of an attack," said Tom Anderson, president of CSC's North American Public Sector Civil and Government Health Services Group. "Through government-wide cyber security initiatives, we implement innovative technologies and information assurance strategies to mitigate risk and enable our customers to deliver on their mission."
The U.S. Department of Agriculture provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues based on sound public policy, the best available science and efficient management.
