U.S. NAVY WINS BEST PRACTICE AWARD FOR CSC-SUPPORTED LEARNING PROGRAM

Navy Recognized as Pioneer in Distance Learning Industry

FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 3 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) presented the 21st Century Best Practice Award to the U.S. Navy for its CSC-supported eLearning program. USDLA presented the award in conjunction with the 2009 National Conference on April 28 in St. Louis, Mo.

The eLearning program addresses the many unique technical and organizational challenges faced by the Navy. The program delivers, tracks and manages more than 8,000 electronic courses online for more than one million active duty U.S. Navy troops, civilian employees, reservists, retirees and family members.

“With a global reputation for excellence, the eLearning program advances the Navy’s knowledge base by providing 24/7 access to training, whether from home or while deployed around the world,” said Austin Yerks, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Defense group. “CSC proudly supports the Navy eLearning program through innovative programs and services tailored to the needs of the learner and the learning environment.”

The USDLA awards were created to acknowledge major accomplishments in distance learning and highlight instructors, programs and professionals who have achieved and demonstrated extraordinary results through the use of online, videoconferencing, satellite and blended learning delivery technologies. Award recipients were recognized for raising the bar and exceeding best practice expectations for the industry as a whole.
