CSC’S U.S. ARMY LOGISTICS MODERNIZATION PROGRAM ACHIEVES ISO/IEC 20000 CERTIFICATION
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 1 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that the U.S. Army’s Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) has achieved ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 certification at operations sites in Marlton, N.J.; Chambersburg, Penn.; and St. Louis, Mo. ISO/IEC 20000 certification is an international standard established for organizations delivering information technology (IT) services and reflects best practice guidance contained within the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) initiative. Issued by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance group, the LMP is the first program in the United States and the first within CSC to achieve ISO 20000 certification.
CSC provides end-to-end application development and support services for the LMP. Eighteen months ago, the LMP embarked on an initiative to integrate its corporate standard Service Delivery Excellence Program with the ITIL framework and to meet the ISO 20000 specification and code of practice.
“This designation signifies a major milestone,” said Austin Yerks, president of CSC’s Defense Division. “It was a challenging process with a rigorous audit that evaluated both ISO specification and the associated code of practice. This rare accomplishment reinforces CSC’s ability to consistently deliver a quality IT service product that fulfills the requirements of its client.”
The ISO/IEC 20000 certification allows IT service organizations to plan, manage, deliver, monitor, report and review their services. It is increasingly seen as the quality standard for IT service management, and many companies strive to receive the certification for their own benefit and to help qualify and choose suppliers and partner organizations.
