CSC Unveils Role-based Mobile Insurance Applications
News Release -- May 26, 2011
2Work Apps for Tablets Improve Staff Efficiency with Anytime, Anywhere Access
FALLS CHURCH, Va., May 26 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced additions to its family of device-agnostic mobile insurance applications that give agents, insurance professionals and policyholders on-the-go access to services from both Life and Annuity (L&A) and Property and Casualty (P&C) systems. The new 2Work family of role-based mobile apps, which are pre-packaged and customizable, helps insurance professionals harness the benefits of location-aware, real-time and secure tablets and smartphones to do their work.
Among CSC’s new mobile apps is the industry’s first tablet app for an insurance claims adjuster, 2Work for Adjusters, which has been initially built for the highly anticipated BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet. Another application for the PlayBook, 2Work for Brokers, is geared for brokers and life insurance agents. This application offers comprehensive self-service and new business functionality that includes common policy service functions, electronic app, alerts and notifications, and other collaborative features to help insurance companies provide faster and more responsive mobile service to their agents.
“The future is uncertain, but it is mobile,” said Catherine Stagg-Macey, senior analyst with Celent’s Insurance Group. “Claims adjusters and producers are adopting or even buying their own devices – tablets, smartphones – and expecting them to work seamlessly with insurers’ internal core systems; the same is true for consumers. The advances made in mobility to date make a clear case for a revised, future-proof e-business strategy that addresses the increasingly mobile insurer workforce alongside consumer expectations.”
2Work for Adjusters provides claims adjusters with capabilities to view claims information and to complete assigned work from a diary list. Adjusters are able to enter information that is augmented by rich content such as mapping and location-aware services enabled by the tablet’s global positioning system (GPS). Adjusters can attach rich content captured via the tablet’s camera and microphone, including images of paper documents or on-site payments. The app framework’s adapters also connect to existing CSC back-office applications for claims processing and coverage verification and enable connections to third-party back-office applications.
2Work for Brokers, a new app for life insurance brokers/agents, facilitates illustrations, proposals, quotes and electronic applications; displays agent compensation and commission reports; speeds alerts and other notifications; and provides access to the distributor’s complete book of business for customer service functions.
“CSC’s mobile apps are putting common, everyday tasks at insurance professionals’ fingertips, whenever and however they transact their business,” said Ray August, president of CSC’s Financial Services Group. “By having fewer devices in hand, with rich media capture/display and location-based services at their immediate disposal, claims adjusters and brokers/agents can more efficiently complete their duties, whether they are connecting with insurers’ back offices or managing their customers’ service experiences.”
CSC’s mobile insurance applications are prepackaged, reusable mobile applications and development frameworks that reduce time, cost and risk to extend an insurance company’s presence to all types of mobile devices. For more information, visit www.csc.com/mobileinsurance.
