As a result of a major global expansion of its business through acquisition, reinsurance specialist PartnerRe needed to consolidate and optimize the administration of its worldwide reinsurance operations moving to a single network, a common IT infrastructure, and one set of business applications and processes throughout the company. It also needed to improve the accessibility of management information to enable more effective risk assessment.
New Processes and Systems Integration
CSC worked with PartnerRe to implement its SICS/nt reinsurance administration system. The project involved the migration of twelve existing systems into one global system, and the conversion of legacy systems to a common, single platform. This required large-scale data migration and conversion. In parallel with the configuration and integration of SICS/nt, CSC's business analysts worked closely with PartnerRe to refine its business processes.
Improved Efficiency and Customer Service
The design for the group-wide data model and processes, and SICS/nt was implemented in Zurich, Singapore and Hong Kong. PartnerRe now has a reinsurance administration system that enables its operating centers to handle all existing business and future products on a common platform.
Peter Kalt, PartnerRe's SICS/nt project leader, says: "The first phase of the implementation has shown that, with the new system, all the business information we need is available anywhere and at any time. This creates optimal conditions for us to a provide a high quality of service to our clients."
'Double-digit' million dollar cost savings are anticipated.
Worldwide Implementation
The second release of the solution will be implemented in Paris and Toronto, and then in Greenwich (US) and Bermuda. Hugo Singer, PartnerRe's Head of Reinsurance Operations (non-US), says: "Once this is complete, the full system will give our group an immense boost by optimising global efficiency."
