CSC LICENSES AUTOMATED WORK DISTRIBUTOR TO FBL FINANCIAL GROUP
Software to Help Automate New Business, Underwriting and Payment Workflows
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., May 3 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that FBL Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: FFG) has signed a licensing agreement for Automated Work Distributor (AWD). FBL Financial Group (FBL) will use AWD to improve customer service, lower administrative costs and automate workflows for the life insurance, annuity and mutual fund business of its subsidiary, Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company.
AWD provides comprehensive process management capabilities, including workflow, task automation and content management. Its real-time performance metrics let managers assess work status, backlogs, user productivity, quality of work and adherence to service standards.
CSC will install AWD on 150 workstations at FBL’s Des Moines, Iowa, headquarters and integrate it with the company’s existing third-party imaging system. FBL, whose subsidiaries have been CSC clients since 1978, will initially use AWD to streamline business processes and automate the distribution and tracking of new business and underwriting work. Later, the company will use AWD for customer service and mutual fund processing.
“By using AWD to track and monitor work in real time, we can lower costs,” said Doug Gumm, vice president, Information Technology, for FBL Financial Group. “Integrating AWD with our existing systems will create an electronic process infrastructure that we can use for further automation.”
“AWD’s extensive process management capabilities will help FBL streamline its business processes to create a more agile operation,” said Michael W. Risley, president of the Life and Annuity division of CSC’s Financial Services Group. “CSC offers an extensive portfolio of insurance solutions, enabling our clients to increase productivity and improve business results.”
Approximately 80,000 users in the United States rely on AWD, which is a product of DST Technologies Inc. CSC, the exclusive distributor of AWD to the insurance industry, provides project management, business reengineering and information technology (IT) services for its clients’ AWD implementations.
