Codan signs Nordic IT outsourcing agreement with CSC

Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that one of the leading insurance companies, Codan, has signed an outsourcing agreement with CSC for mainframe operations, and applications development and maintenance of a number of central insurance systems including SAP-systems and Lotus Notes. The agreement for mainframe services is a five year contract and for applications development and maintenance a seven year contract.

The Codan Group is of one the leading insurance companies in the Nordic region with customers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the Baltic States. The agreement also covers information technology (IT) operations, development and maintenance for a number of central insurance systems for Trygg-Hansa, Sweden’s third largest insurance company.

As part of the agreement CSC will take over some 80 Trygg-Hansa and Codan employees from their IT-departments who will work at CSC in the future.

CSC was able to present the best business solution and we will secure a long term asset of special competencies and mainframe and insurance systems. The contracts also mean increased flexibility and lower costs for the Codan Group, said Frank Andersen, acting Manager IT & Operations at Codan.

The delivery to the Codan Group will be carried out by a mixture of local employees in Sweden and Denmark and resources from global CSC. The operation of the systems is carried out from CSC’s central data center in Copenhagen.
