CSC HONORS INSURERS AND SELF-INSURED ORGANIZATIONS
Eight Companies Receive Awards at CSC Connect 2006 Conference
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Nov. 21 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that eight insurers and self-insured organizations received awards for software innovation and leadership at its CSC Connect 2006 conference.
Award winners include DaimlerChrysler Insurance Co., Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Co., MetLife Auto & Home, Nationwide Insurance Co., PEMCO Mutual Insurance Co., Southern Farm Bureau Insurance Co., Resurrection Health Care and Wawa Inc. Conference attendees chose the award winners from 30 nominations. CSC Connect 2006 was attended by nearly 1,000 property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry, risk management and technology professionals from approximately 300 organizations.
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance won CSC's Well Connected Award, which singles out a category winner for its leadership through innovation. The company won this "best of show" honor for its contributions to the development and testing of three CSC products – Exceed, POINT IN and Colossus – and the leadership role it has played in CSC software users' communities.
"Indiana Farm Bureau has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with CSC," said Greg Clancy, Indiana Farm Bureau senior vice president and chief information officer. "One of the most important aspects of that relationship is the forum CSC provides for its insurance clients to collaboratively enhance CSC's software. This process lets insurance companies of all sizes benefit from the best ideas of everyone involved. We sincerely appreciate our colleagues' recognition of our contributions to this effort."
Companies that received CSC's Innovation Community Award, which recognizes software enhancement projects that benefit both the individual company and the entire user community, include:
- DaimlerChrysler Insurance Co., which developed an interface that lets employee users import and export Microsoft Excel files on locations, coverage and billing information to and from CSC's POINT IN administration software, enabling the automatic processing of monthly audits and endorsements.
- MetLife Auto & Home, which worked with CSC to enhance the management reporting capabilities in CSC's Colossus bodily injury software and improve the graphical presentation of report data.
- Southern Farm Bureau, which contributed to CSC's Exceed software by helping develop faster quoting capabilities; adding controls to help claim personnel adjust workflows and avoid exceeding claim limits; and expanding the search capabilities for customer inquiries, enhanced billing cash details and visual cues for suspended payments.
- Resurrection Health Care, which worked with CSC to develop intranet Web pages that allow users to enter five different category events into CSC's RISKMASTER claims and risk management software, eliminating the company’s paper-based event reporting system and immediately distributing information to departments that need it.
CSC presented its Industry Leadership Award, which recognizes organizations that implement innovative software products or services, to:
- Nationwide Insurance, which worked with CSC through its subsidiary, Scottsdale Insurance Co., to develop the first Web-based system that manages an insurer’s entire relationship with independent adjusters from the assignment of claims to the review and approval of expenses.
- PEMCO Mutual Insurance, which replaced its legacy system for processing personal automobile, homeowner and mobile home policies with CSC's Exceed administration system, eliminating the need to run two systems during a year-long transition. Instead, PEMCO adopted a "big bang" approach and converted to Exceed over one weekend.
- Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, which worked with CSC to develop a tool that enables agents or underwriters to simplify the quoting of multi-line policies, minimize data entry time and errors, and restrict access based on user authority.
- Wawa, which worked with CSC to develop a Web-based reporting form for its call center and a multiple daily electronic interface to its third-party administrator, allowing stores to easily communicate incident information for entry directly into RISKMASTER and eliminating the need to re-key data into multiple systems.
"All of the companies that nominated projects for this year's awards demonstrated a high degree of innovation or cooperation with fellow members of our user community," said Ray August, president of the Property and Casualty Division of CSC's Financial Services Group. "Judging by the increase in award nominations at Connect 2006, more organizations are achieving significant business results with CSC's software and services."
