Tailored Solution

AXA Germany agreed to pilot CSC's new product definition tool, VP/MS, which provides a flexible easy-to-use design, programming and testing system that significantly reduces the development time for financial products.

AXA Germany worked with CSC to enhance VP/MS for its own use, giving AXA Germany the ability to design its own front-end interfaces and providing its agency network across Germany with access to the system. Implementation of VP/MS started in mid-1998, and was completed in 2001.

Time to Market Halved
AXA Germany has seen its time to market for new products cut significantly, with associated cost reductions and an increase in its competitive edge. The cost reductions result from the flexibility of VP/MS to be used across any platform without change, including the Web, and because it can be integrated with AXA Germany's existing administration systems.

Ingo Wenke, Head of VP/MS Development at AXA Germany, says: "The advantage of VP/MS is that it's easier to use, and you don't need a high level of technical skill. As a result it's cheaper and takes less time to design and develop a product."

Internet Access
In 2001, AXA Germany decided to be the first organization to implement CSC's J-VP/MS, which provides a simple extension of the VP/MS functions and enables customers to gain access to new or modified financial services products quickly via the Internet.

Ingo Wenke adds: "As a result of the full roll-out of VP/MS, including the Internet version which was implemented in August 2001, we see CSC as a strategic partner for the future."
