Maritime Engineering Facilities and Infrastructure

CSC maintains unique facilities and infrastructure to support our maritime engineering efforts. The model and instrumentation facility supports manufacturing of high precision models and prototypes to support critical test and evaluation activities. Graphics, video, and animation are available to support a wide range of documentation and external affairs requirements. Finally, our extensive models and simulation resources offer a menu of constructive, virtual and live simulations that assist in requirements definition, systems engineering, test, and upgrade planning and integration for any Naval ship system.

CSC has taken our models and simulation resources and applied them towards shipboard training. CSC’s Virtual Ship® immerses the mariner in standalone and networked training scenarios. Naval applications of Virtual Ship® Simulator Systems include support for the full spectrum of naval applications and ship types. Some typical uses for the simulator are:
  • Navigation and Collision Avoidance
  • Harbor Transits, Anchoring, Mooring, and Piers
  • Operations with Tugs
  • Formation Maneuvering
  • Underway Replenishment
  • Maneuvering for Flight Operations
  • Towing and Salvage
  • Mission Rehearsal
  • NSS Element for BFTT
  • Force Protection
